This is the third and final blog in our video production services series. In this piece, we’ll break down the services Noble Bison Productions offers in the post-production stage when the edits occur. Yep, it’s time to make magic as we sort through all the footage and sound we’ve captured and craft it together to create your high-quality final cut.

Even though we’re in the home stretch of the video production process, it’s no time to slack. Editing can truly make all the difference in the final quality of a video. It takes years of experience to learn how to edit a professional video, acquiring skills such as appropriate pacing, coherent narratives, clip arrangement, sound overlay, and much more. When done well, a professional video will help you build your brand and resonate with your ideal audience better. Viewers walk away with an impression of your products, services, company, etc., from the content you put out. Do you want it to be good or bad? Memorable or forgettable?

Noble Bison Productions holds a high standard for all our final cuts. We use skills and experience to ensure every project is polished and worth your investment. Today, we will discuss the most common skills and services Noble Bison Productions provides during the post-production stage.

Video Editing:

All of the services in the post-production phase are part of editing your video, but we wanted to outline the basics of our editing services to start out. Depending on the scope of your video, there may be a long list of edits that your video needs to go through before it reaches its final cut (all of which will be specified in your SOW). Our team collaborates with you, the client, by sending you rough cuts throughout the editing process to get your input. We do this to ensure you get a final cut that you’re happy with.

WHO DOES THE EDITING: Our post-production edits are done both in-house and by outsourcing professionals, like FSX or animation artists. Whatever your project entails — this is where our storytelling expertise comes into play and we ensure the edits/editors fit your specific needs.

MULTIPLE CUTS: During the editing, we can create multiple cuts based on your needs. For instance, we had a shoot with a client where we captured the footage to create both a brand video and a recruitment video. Other times, we’ll create cuts of the same video at varying lengths, like a 30-second and 60-second video.

EDITING STYLE: Based on your branding and messaging, we work together to find the right editing style for you, such as what pace and tone work best. Maybe you need an amped-up sizzle reel or perhaps something more easy-going. One example that shows how you can create a specific mood and atmosphere with editing is a really fun brand video we shot for Denver Bouldering Club. It was edited by our talented friend Nathaniel Davison. Check out this creative editing of his:

Music Overlay:

Sound is a big component of conveying the mood and energy you want in your video. Noble Bison Productions sources its music from royalty-free music services that showcase tracks from amazing composers. But if you prefer something more unique and one of a kind, we are well-connected with plenty of talented musicians. One of our favorite examples is the branding video we made for Seagull bags, where we hired a professional drummer (@wangabangy) to create the soundtrack. See below:

Voiceovers:

Whether you need a voice actor or you choose to tell your own story for something more personalized, our team can absolutely overlay high-quality voiceovers on your videos. Hiring a voice actor can be a great choice for certain types of marketing videos, and they are generally more common in promotional ads made for mid to larger-sized companies.

Most of the clients we’ve worked with preferred speaking for themselves in their branding videos, and we love how they come out. We find that they have a more personal feel and relate to the viewer better. It puts a face and voice to the company, which is a great way to connect with your audiences. Here’s one example from our video with CIE-Solutions, where the head of the VP of Engineering is the speaker/narrator.

Color Correction & Color Grading:

Our team offers both color correction and color grading editing services. The two sound similar but are distinctly different from one another. Color correction is the process of fixing any color issues. It ensures the footage looks good before you begin the more creative transformation of color grading.

Color grading is the editing process used to create a certain mood for your video. It can make colors pop, soften, and even transform a late day into a nighttime scene. Below you can check out different frames from the We Are William music video shoot showing the color grading we did.

Virtual Effects:

VFX vs. SFX: Virtual effects (VFX) are different than special effects (SFX), as they take place during the post-production edits. VFX artists manipulate the footage that was captured in real-time to either create something entirely new or enhance the special effects that took place during the shoot.

An example of the latter is the blood spatter virtual effects in the music video we did for Silo. We hired an on-set special effects artist to create the blood spatter in the shooting scene, and then we hired a virtual effects artist to amp it up in post-production. See the final scene below:

The two images below are examples of how you can manipulate and combine two pieces of footage into one.

Animation:

Animation is a great way to break down how a product or service works for your customers. Not only does it simplify what your company offers, but the type of animation style and colors you use can help you build your brand and grow brand awareness so that customers have a better recall of your products and services.

Noble Bison Productions will contract animation artists based on your specific needs, style, and budget. The video below is a simple but effective animation segment we had made for our client Wyndly Health. Its purpose was to explain and show how their services work to customers just learning about their product, a no poke-of-the-arm solution for your allergies.

Graphics & Motion Graphics:

Graphics can be a nice way to share information and/or help viewers remember you. During the post-production stage, our team can edit any graphics or motion graphics into your live-action videos. It really gives videos that final touch feeling. Graphics or motion graphics include anything from a simple title slide in the opening frame, a closing frame with your logo, or multiple frames throughout your video. See below examples where we’ve included graphics for our clients.

On-Time Deliverables:

Our team generally works to complete our edits within three weeks, unless otherwise specified. We do, however, take into account our clients’ needs and deadlines during the development stage and guarantee to deliver your final cut as described in your project proposal. As I mentioned before, we keep every client in the loop and part of the editing process. If you ever have any concerns with your video or the deadline, our team is always available to discuss.

To close, our Noble Bison Productions team loves the editing process because we get to bring the initial vision to fruition and share it with you! We love the feeling of giving our clients something high-quality that we put our best effort into. If you’re curious about other post-production services, feel free to reach out to our team. I’m certain we can accommodate your needs.
